Situated in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, CA, Granada is an independent public school that seeks to create lifelong learners and productive citizens of its student body. Since its conversion to charter in 2003, the school has seen its API score increase 115 points to 876. We're proud to represent our community through our commitment to excellence. Granada Hills Charter Captures Back-to-Back National Academic Decathlon Titles
GHCHS students are back-to-back National Academic Decathlon champions. Granada Hills Charter conclusively broke several individual and team records including the highest ever point total for a school in the history of the National Academic Decathlon competition.
Varsity Softball Advances in the City Championship Playoffs
Congratulations to the Varsity Softball team for advancing in the City Championship playoffs. In a total team effort, the Highlanders defeated Palisades Charter High School in the first round with a score of 2-1. They now go on to face Lincoln High School at home on Friday at 3 P.M.
Congressional Arts Competition on Tuesday, May 22
Please come to support our students who have entered the Congressional Art Competition (recently moved to) Tuesday, May 22nd from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Canoga Park Youth Arts Center, 7222 Remmet Avenue, Canoga Park 91303.
AP Testing: May 7th - May 18th
AP Exams are scheduled for Monday, May 7th through Friday, May 18th. All students taking tests must show ID and enter through a metal detector. Cell phones and electronic devices must be checked. Avoid wearing clothing or jewelry that contains excessive metal, as they will be picked up by the scanners. Click for more details and to see the full exam schedule.
Boys Volleyball in City Championship Finals
Congratulations to the Boys Volleyball team for their 3 game sweep of Taft High School on Tuesday night in the City Championship semi-finals. Jino Labao and Billy De La Espriella had 11 kills each to lead the team. Granada will be playing Palisades Charter this Saturday at 5:00 P.M. in the Championship finals at Venice High. If you are interested in riding the fan bus, sign up with Coach Harp in the Boys' PE office.

Southern California Vocal Association Show Choir Festival
Congratulations to the Highlander Show Choir who brought home a 3rd place trophy from the Southern California Vocal Association Show Choir Festival in Redlands last Saturday. We have a very talented group this year. Great job everyone!
GHCHS Selected For Prestigious Honor Roll
On May 7th Granada Hills Charter was recognized by the California Business for Education Excellence (CBEE) as a 2011 Honor Roll school. Schools receiving this distinction from the California business community have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations. For High Schools, the Honor Roll recognition also includes measures of college readiness.

Seniors: Graduation announcements have arrived at the Student Store. Pick them up today. If you did not pre-order them, they are still available for purchase. Hurry as quantities are limited.
Pierce College Classes on Campus
Pierce College classes will again be held on the GHCHS campus during the fall semester. The deadline for submission of a student's concurrent enrollment packet is August 22. Further information and enrollment materials are available in the Counseling Office. Classes will fill up quickly, so see your counselor as soon as possible if you are interested in taking one of these classes.
