Situated in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, CA, Granada is an independent public school that seeks to create lifelong learners and productive citizens of its student body. Since its conversion to charter in 2003, the school has seen its API score increase 115 points to 876. We're proud to represent our community through our commitment to excellence. GHCHS Now an International Baccalaureate World School
On December 22, Granada Hills Charter was approved as an International Baccalaureate World School. We are one of only a handful of public and private high schools in Southern California to have earned this prestigious authorization.

Educator of the Year: Chris Ancheta
Last week, our very own math teacher and golf coach Chris Ancheta received the "Educator of the Year" award from the California League of High Schools (CLHS). The CLHS "Educator of the Year" award is given annually to 11 educators from representative regions in California. These educators are recognized for their exemplary service to their schools and the community. Congratulations Chris! We are proud of you!

Cash for College Workshop - Saturday, January 28th from 9 am to 1 pm
Cash for College, a statewide financial aid workshop, will be held on Saturday, January 28th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at GHCHS. Cash for College Workshops provide FREE, one-on-one financial aid assistance to families completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid [FAFSA] and Cal Grant GPA Verification Forms. SAT Prep Classes
Eureka Review will be presenting an SAT Class at GHCHS starting on January 28th. The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and mock tests will be held on Saturdays. The last class will be Thursday, March 8th. This class will prepare students for the SAT test on Saturday, March 9th.

Join us on February 4th to Stand Up for Charter Schools
Join us on Saturday, February 4th for the "Schools We Can Believe In" Citywide Rally to tell politicians to put students first and support parent choice and charter schools. Buses will be available in front of GHCHS on Zelzah Avenue to take parents, students, and teachers to the Rally. Buses are scheduled to leave at 8am and arrive at Exposition Park, the rally site, at about 9am.

The CAHSEE is Coming!...The CAHSEE is Coming!
California High Schools Exit Exam (CAHSEE) February 7-8, 2012

All California public school students, except eligible students with disabilities, are required by state law to satisfy the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) requirement, as well as all other state and local graduation requirements, to receive a high school diploma. Students who do not pass the examination in grade ten will have additional opportunities in grades eleven and twelve to retake the part(s) not passed. CAHSEE Testing will take place on February 7-8, 2012. A unique bell schedule will be in effect these two days. Click for more information.

Winter Formal - Tickets on Sale Now
This year the Winter Formal will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Universal Sheraton Hotel on Saturday, February 11th . All grades are welcome to attend with or without a date. All required paperwork is available to print for all students and guests. There will be an amazing selection of refreshments, as well as a great DJ that will be performing all night. Buy your tickets now through February 8th at the Student Store for $53 with an ASB card or $55 without.

Advanced Placement Night - Thursday, January 26th
The Counseling Office hosted the Advanced Placement Night in the large gym on Thursday, January 26th. Those interested in taking AP classes next year were invited to attend this meeting to find out what AP is all about. The AP Forms are now available online to print and must be signed and returned to the Counseling Office by Friday, February 24th.
